"I know you're worried baby-girl. But you don't need to be. I'm a fire-boy remember? Smoke's not going to hurt me. I own it."
As if to prove his point he shifted the smoke spiralling into the air into patterns, making smoky figures dance in the air. A complicated mixture fo steps where they spun and twirled in perfect symmetry... Then he stopped and let it fall back into spirals. Simple smoke tricks wouldn't do much to stop Dori's concern over his health, he knew that. But he also knew it was an addiction, and addiction most likely fueled by his fire abilities. He always did need to smoke after he'd played with fire, it wasn't something he thought about much though.
"Lectures are lectures though... Nice bird."
He comment idly, directing the exhaled smoke away from the pink haired girl at his side once more.

"Thanks," she said, a small edge to her voice. It really didn't help her worry at all, but she let the subject drop, as she always did. She sent the bird in a few more spirals before her arms fell to her sides, the bird disappearing into thin air, as it had always been.
She turned her head, watching Tommy silently for a while. She bit her lower lip absently, not saying anything.

Tommy could see her out of the corner of his eye. She didn't say anything, just knawed on her lower lip. He could tell she was still worried though, and that affected him. So he took one last depe drag of the stick, and then stubbed it out on the concrete beside him. He held the smoke inside him for a moment or too longer and then breathed it out with a sigh.
"Better?"
He asked simply, reaching out and draping a warm arm over the girls shoulders.

She smiled at him when he put his arm around her.
"Thank you, but that's actually not what I was thinking, this time," She said, but scooted closer and put her head on his shoulder, anyway. She sighed, content, and closed her eyes. She curled her arms up against him, putting her cold fingers against his warm neck.
"This doesn't bother you... does it?" She asked, opening her eyes to look up at him questioningly.

"Bother me? Does what bother me? Apart from the fact that you are fur-reezing. Do you roll around in the snow or something?"
The chill of the girls skin didn't bother him, but he could still feel that it was cold. He recognised the icy touch, but it didn't lower his tempreture in the slightest. He was a walking space-heater. He tightened his arm around her slightly as she snuggled up closer, letting his heat radiate through her.
"You can have my jacket too if you want baby-girl. Don't want you getting cold..."
He reached out with his spare hand and pulled the garmet closer, ready to hand it over at the pink haired girls command.
"But seriously, what's up?"

Dori sighed then shook her head, burying it against his shoulder.
"Never mind; forget it." She said, her muffled voice flat. Yes, she was... content, just being friends with Tomoru, but sometimes she wondered if it was really enough. If he ever wondered either. If she really did mean more to him then a friend. The thought made her feel off. She wasn't sure what she wanted, but she couldn't help wondering what it could be like if they were more. Obviously he had no objection to being in close proximity to her, but what did that mean? That he could stand her? That they'd known each other all their lives and they were used to each other? What?
She was silent as she toiled, her brow furrowing against his shoulder as she hide her face from his view.

There were a lot of people who would describe Tomoru to be insensitive. Actually, the language would most likely be a lot more colourful and in some cases biologically impossible. But there were times when the teenager could be warm hearted. It didn't take him long to click there was something wrong with his friend, and even though they coould sit in silence and avoid the subject... He was going to try.
"Dori. I know you inside out and back to front. I know there's something bothering you. Tell me."
He cupped her chin gently and tilted it upwards, forcing the girl to meet his eyes.
"You can tell me anything."

She looked up at him and side, her hand at his neck moving up to his cheek.
"Tommy..." She sighed, shaking her head slightly. "What are we doing? What is this? Do you ever wonder what would happen if..."
She trailed off and shook her head again.
"Sorry... I just... I let myself think, again..." She muttered, looking down, though it wasn't completely possible.

Understanding flashed in the males eyes. She didn't have to say it, he knew what she meant now. What she wanted from him, but was too afraid to ask for. He'd never really thought about it before. He rarely lingered in the near future. He dreamed of the far future sometimes, his mind full of the sucess he hoped he would have. Sometimes he decided he might have a wife, maybe even children, but those were just ghosts of time.
He looked down at the girl he held so close. This was unfamiliar ground. He'd had plenty of ladies, but they'd come and gone. Dori had been there from the start. He'd seen her dancing in wellies when she was five. They'd shared everything together - scremaing matches, tears, laughter and cuddles. They'd never shared what she was asking for though. He wasn't sure how it could work. She wasn't some random chick picked up with a few drinks and some smooth words. Would it work?
He didn't know. He really didn't know. But he decided to take the chance, take the risk. It worked or it didn't. Win or lose. But he took the risk. There was a saying somewhere he was sure, about fair hearts making ladies faint? Or was it faint hearts and fair ladies? He wans't sure. Saying or no, Tommy leaned forward suddenly and pressed his lips to Dori's.
The gentle kiss lasted little more than seconds before he leant back and arched an eyebrow.
"Something like that?"

Dori was wide eyed when his lips pressed to hers, but only a moment later they were closed. When he pulled away, she slowly opened her eyes to look at him, and smiled.
"Yes," She said, her voice barely a whisper. She pressed her lips to his, again, when she pulled away, she was smiling. "Exactly like that..."

"I was always very good at knowing what you like."
He said with a grin much wider than her smile. He loved the smile, that lovely, simply Dori smile. It was so... happy. His own grin held plenty of happiness but it also hid the concern. Becuase Tommy had a history with women and relationships and he didn't want to mess up with Dori. Even if they didn't work out in this context, he would never even consider losing her friendship. He didn't know how he could keep that promise though.
"So what happens now?"

"Well... She said slowly, resting her head on his shoulder, again. "I, uh, didn't think that far..."
She bit her lip, then looked back up at Tommy. "I didn't completely thin you would... I mean... I don't know, I just didn't expect it so.... Hi." She gave up and just smiled sweetly, putting her hand against his cheek, again.

"Hi."
He laughed softly, placing his own hand over hers where it rested on his cheek. Typical Dori, getting all tumbled up over her words.
"Come here you daft mare."
He wrapped both his arms around her slim frame and lifted her onto his lap, wrapping both his arms around her waist as he held to his chest.

She laughed as he pulled her on top of him, greatful that her lapse in thought was so easily forgiven. She wrapped her arms around his neck.
"I can get used to this..." She murmured before leaning in to kiss him, again. She didn't pull away for a while, only for a moment to breathe. Finally, though, she did pull away. She just looked at him, bit her lip, and smiled.

Tommy smiled against her lips as she leant forward and kissed him, still holding her firmly but gently. He could feel her skin warming up, his touch raising her tempreture to a more natural level. She had been icy before.
"Yeah, I guess I could put up with you for a while too...."
He teased her, flashing a cheeky wink towards the girl. It was strange to have Dori staring at him like that. It was strange to be holding her like this, kissing her. But it was a good kind of strange, he was fairly sure of that.

She smiled back, grateful for the heat of his skin. Dori had gotten used to the delicate balance of their former relationship. They both knew when it was about to go too far and what would cause them to tip. They'd been careful, knowing they weren't sure whether they were ready. But now... Instead of gently tipping them over the edge, they'd knocked it over, plunging them, finally, one way.
And Dori liked that way.
She raised her hand to her cheek, cupping it there. Slowly, she lat it slid down his neck, to his chest, then to is hand. She gently gripped it, there, and smiled up at him.
"Put up with me, huh?" She murmured, her voice low and slightly rough.

"Yeah. I mean, I guess I could just about tolerate spending time with you..."
He teased her gently, wrapping his hand around her fingers as she had no doubt intended by the action. His eyes sparkled with laughter, and a smile tugged on his lips.
"I could just about bring myself to do this to..."
He leaned closer and caught her lips with his own once more, dark eyes closing for those few moments before he pulled back once more.
"Yep, I think I can endure it."
He murmured with a chuckle.

"Mmm," Se sighed wen he pulled away. "Well, If you can bring yourself to endure that, then I suppose I can, maybe, handle this..."
She leaned forward, catching his lips once again. Yes, she could put up with this. As their game of flirting came to an end, a new game seemed to begin. One that could, arguably, be more fun.
"Yeah... I can handle that, for a while," She murmured softly, leaning her forehead against his when she pulled away.

Tommy was enjoying their little game. Their relationship had always been about games, teasing and flirting. It didn't suprise the boy that the games had continued to change and develop with them. He wasn't about to protest against the sweet kisses, was he?
"Let me know if you can't cope anymore, yeah?"
He murmued softly against her lips, forehead resting against hers gently.
"Untill then... You're mine."
He said simply. Reaching out, he lifted his jacket from the ground and draped it over her shoulders. It was too big on her, but she'd stolen it off of him so many times in the past he doubted she'd care to much.
"My Dori."
He repeated softly, liking the sound of the words.

She liked the sound of it, too. She pulled the jacket slightly tighter, and smiled.
"My Tommy." She stated back, sticking her arms through the sleeves before wrapping them around his neck.
"And, yeah, I'll let you know. Shall we see how much we can take?" She kissed him briefly, again, as if in challenge.
