The twins were no strangers to breaking rules.
It wasn't as if they broke the rules though, it was as if the rules bent to suit them. Maybe becuase many of these law enforcers were rather unsettled by the luminious golden eyes of Kuro, and Taira's preditory smirk. Either way, there was a certain leniancy permitted to them. One for example, being allowed acess to the kitchen.
Kuro walked into the space, to hear his sister swearing and muttering to herself as she whirled around the stainless steel, her movements at inhuman speed. Tairadenai had long ago decided that she could only eat so much of the food provided by the school body, and had asked to have the chance to make her own meals occasionally. Kuro had laughed when she told him, but he wasn't complaining. Taira would cook for him, and despite her many flaws... His sister could cook.
"What are we having?" "Spaggetti."
She responded simply, and he grinned. He loved the spaggetti, he'd have second helpings. She always made too much. Or maybe she just anticipated his appetite. Kuro knew better than to interfere with the culinery side of their relationship, so he just hitched his frame upon a worktop and watched in silence.
His mind was full though. Of the way he nearly lost control the other day. Of the terrified freshman, the way his eyes glittered in the dark. Of ChiChu. He couldn't chase the image from his mind. She was boundless in beauty it seemed to him, yet she always had fright on his face. Fright he inspired. When she caught him staring, she'd look so alarmed. He'd be ashamed, and vow not to, but he would. She jsut... fascinated him.
Something rushed through the air, and his hand snapped up in to to catch the ladle aimed os accuratley at his head.
"Enough daydreaming. Food's ready."
Kuro grinned and moved quickly to the table, silently handing his sister the ladle as he slid into his seat. She rolled her eyes, but began dishing the spagetti and meatballs onto his plate. Golden eyes glittered as he inhaled the delicious scent, before he eagerly began to eat. He dimly registered his sister's tinkling laugh, but he wasn't aware of much else... The food was good.

It wasn't all that rare, a night or so after Chichu had gone hunting, that she would need a little extra. But, because she didn't like losing that much sleep in a row, she didn't usually go back out hunting. She had other ways. One of which happened to involve a small deal she'd made with the kitchen staff her first day of school.
The school's kitchen was, to say the least, professional. It had chefs that had done nothing all their lives but cook. Some even had an insignia that made them better. But it wasn't as though Chu could eat the food they cooked. It did nothing for her.
The raw meat that they had in great supply, on the other hand, was blood and edible, for her. That, along with the small, special accomidations the school had on site (Aka, 50 packs of O negitvie stored in a special fridge) and she was happy.
So, one evening, after the regular student's dinner was over, before curfew could dare be a problem, she walked silently up to the kitchen, expecting no one to be there. It was a bit of a shock to see the light still on, but she figured someone, perhaps Chef Paloninia, her friend among the cooking staff, was just cleaning up, or something.
Imagine her surprise when she noislessly opened the door, slipped in, and made it halfway to the fridge before she saw who else was there.
Kuro and Taira.
She froze, as if in shock. As far as she knew, they hadn't seen her, yet. But when the door finally swung shut, she cringed, straightneing up.
"Sorry, I just- the fridge- and the- Hey, Kuro..." She stammered, glad for what had to be the thousandth time sense dawn, that she was inable to blush.

The door opened. In a breif, flickering movement both sets of eyes took in the figure and then dropped back to their respective plates before she could notice. Kuro's hand tightened around the fork, the metal twisting and deforming at his chokehold. Taira glared down at her own cutlery. Neither could stand to look at the vampire girl for a moment, though the reasons contrasted sharply. Prehaps if they stayed still and silent, she would be gone and they could continue their meal in peace. But halfway to the fridge, she caught their image and the route was closed off. Conversation had been struck up.
"Um, hi there... Chu. I mean, ChiChu."
Kuro replied awkwardly, doing his best to stare at the plate. However his eyes were drawn to her face, the glittering golden orbs locking onto the image as they had done so many times before. He couldn't help but stare.
"What are you doing-" "She hasn't drained enough blood from the animals. She's tapping into her reserves to save herself the hassel of killing a friend."
Taira cut in, her tones were smooth and musical in sharp comparison to the stammered words of ChiChu and Kuro. Her words were spoken lightly, as if in humour but there was a sharper, spiteful undertone that could be traced if somebdoy sought hard enough. Kuro was well aqquainted with such a manner of speaking and with a quick flick of his wrist, threw the mis-shapen fork at his sister. She caught it easily, though she heeded the warning it represented. She studdied the lump of metal the fork had become before tossing it over her shoulder. There was a muffled clink as it hit the target and fell into the bin.
"Sorry."
He murmured to the other girl, the subject of his apology clearly his sister, who was watching the two carefully.

"It's um, ok," Chu blinked. She stared back at him for a moment before her own eyes dropped in embarrassment.
"I'm sorry for disturbing your meal... And yes, the kitchen staff have some extra... reserves, for me." She said, surprised the words came out so coherently. Her eyes, despite the fact that she'd just hunted the night before, were darker; a direct result from spending so much time around humans. Her insignia was also burning brighter through her long black sleeves, almost visiblely.

Taira considered a few things as she watched her brother stare at the vampire girl.
Firstly; what on earth was so special about the blood-sucker? The more Tairadenai looked at the girl, the harder she found it to believe that she could make Kuro so.... stupid.
Secondly; Was Kuro going to let his food go cold? Because if he left his spaggetti to gawp at little miss leech, Taira was not going to be happy.
Last, but not least, she considered the possibiliting of phasing into something; lunging across the table and tearing the head off ChiChu's shoulders. She could change her form in a split second, but it came down to a matter of speed. Kuro would stop her no doubt; he was faster and closer to the vampire. A living, breathing, super-powered sheild.
As if sensing his sisters musing, Kuro shot her a sharp look. She responded by smile; glossing over the venom with honey and sugar.
Kuro turned his attention rapidly back to ChiChu, noting how her gaze had dropped to the floor. He seemed to unsettle her, she didn't enjoy being near him. She wasn't comfortable; then again, neither was he. It was an interesting conudrum. Half of the demon-child craved her company, and the other half wanted her to run. Run away before he ran the risk of hurting her. He'd never want to hurt her.
"Care to join us?"
Taira's sing song voice suddenly chimed, making Kuro blink on confusion. His sisters face was perfectly innocent as she guestured towards the table. He frowned. That was... unexpected. And strange. For a moment, he considered her motives behind such a seemingly harmless guesture. Was she going to launch an attack? Then he realised it was more selfish. He wasn't eating her food, and she was insulted.
He smiled to himself before ChiChu was the center of attention. He lowered his voice.
"You are welcome to join us. She'll play nice. And don't worry about the blood thing-" "We've seen worse."
Kuro looked at her carefully as he waited for her response, and Taira just smiled sweetly.

Chu's head snapped up at the twins words, her eyes going wide with surprise.
"Oh, um..." Was the first thing her brilliant little steal-trap of a mind could manage. She almost never ate around others, unless it was a well-disguised raw burger with her friends. "Sure, I guess. I'll just go, uh... to the fridge."
Perhaps it was the fact that the twins were the only 2 marked's at school who compared to her. Perhaps it was the fact the they were seniors and he was quit hot, at that. Or perhaps it was that he was the first person to actually look at her. Either way, Chu was still surprised by her sudden lack of ability to form a completly coherent sentance as she dacked into the back room where the fridge stuffed with O negitive was. She pulled out a pack before emerging again to where the twins were.
She sat down across from them, fiddling with the small plastic pack of blood for a moment before seemingly gliding her fingernail over one corner-
And wripped a slit-like hole in it.
She brought it to her lips in silence, taking a sip before looking back at the twins, to make sure they really weren't disgusted by her means of nuitrition.

As ChiChu turned towards the fridge, Kuro's head snapped around and he glared feircly at his twin. She met his gaze evenly, arching her brows.
"You will be nice..."
He warned her in a low tone, and Taira rolled her eyes. Kuro looked as if he was about to say more, when Chu returned to the table. Taira stood up at that instant, and Kuro glared. However, she waved a hand in his direction, a silent hushing motion and moved over to a drawer. Golden eyes followed her, but his face relaxed as she threw something at him. He caught it easily, and she returned to her seat.
"He destroyed the first one."
She said, mainly for Chu's benefit before she returned to her seat and began to eat.
"It's fine."
Kuro said, noting Chu's glance. She clearly wasn't used to eating infront of people so openly. Taira just smiled.

"Oh," Chu nodded, mild understanding replacing the look of confusion on her face. She took another sip of the blood before looking back up at the twins, again.
"So..." she said, trying to find something to fill the silence. "The chefs show leaniency to you, as well?"
First she could barely say anything coherent, now she was being too formal. Why the hell couldn't she just act normally? She internally cussed herself out, silently telling herself that she should go see Yukai soon, just in case.

At the question, Taira laughed and showed off her small white teeth. They were perfectly rounded, like normal human teeth but there was something about them that made them seem... Sharp. Too sharp. Her eyes glittered with the laughter, as she looked over at ChiChu.
"They wouldn't dare argue."
She pointed out, and Kuro shrugged his shoulders lightly, not trusting himself to speak. His sister was right though, they wouldn't argue. He smiled breifly over at Chu, unable to stop himself staring though he shook himself out of it and began to devour his meal again.
Taira watched him through narrowed eyes, quickly flicking the glare to Chi-Chu before her expression smoothed and she was friendly once more.

"That's... nice." Chichu said, nodding slowly. She didn't pay much attention when Taira flashed her teeth. Instead, she discreitly ran her tounge over her own razor sharp teeth, her mouth still closed.
"I've known the kitchen staff here all my life..." she murmured, taking another sip. "I've lived here for a long time."

Kuro and Taira exchanged a glance, and Taira parted her lips to speak, only to be silenced suddenly by a single word. Her eyes narrowed as the word was spat across the table, and she rose to her feet. The words came thicker and faster now, and despite the mystifying anture of the language, the tone was traceable. Anger, worry, restraint, threats and warning. Kuro grolwed his final words and Taira snarled back before flouncing off. He sighed heavily, and his gaze tore between the route his sister had just taken and ChiChu. He didn't want to leave her, but he wasn't sure Taira should be unleashed on the public in this mood.
Fortunatley he was saved the choice as his sister returned suddenly, clutching a goblet in her hands. The glass was thick, and blue tinted. She placed it on the table under her brother's watchful eyes and then pushed it towards ChiChu in a brusque guesture. She said nothing in English, only muttering in her own tongue beneath her breath as she returned to her meal.
"Taira doesn't approve of your table manners apparantley."
Kuro explained in low, apolegetic tones, looking meaninfully between the plastic packet and the cup. There was the slightest of smiles on his lips, which vanished when Taira's foreign mutterings became louder. He snapped something, tones sharp and harsh before he flicked his gaze back to Chu.
"Sorry...."

Chu blinked in confusion at the twins exchange, her brow furrowing in a way that would have looked delicate, had she ever been delicate. When the cup was placed in front of her, her eyes widened, understanding showing in her face before Kuro bothered to explain.
"Oh!" She said, nodding and taking the cup. "I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to be rude... I guess I don't eat around humans much... Sorry."
Stop babbling! She internally yelled at herself. She dropped her gaze, focusing on pouring the contents of the pack into the blue goblet. This was... awkward.

Kuro shook his head slowly, as if trying to clear his head of some unwanted thought.
"Oh, don't worry about Taira. She's never been a people person. The blood doesn't really matter, but making your life harder? That seems to be very important to her at the moment."
He shot a glare towards her, to which she just muttered, spearing a meatball in anger. Kuro sighed and turned back to ChiChu, staring at her eyes. He dropped his voice slightly.
"I'm am sorry we keep changing language though. English is a third tongue, and sometimes we slip up. I don't mean to be rude."
Kuro spoke quietly, his eyes never leaving her face. Golden optics took in every tiny little detail, details most people would miss. He would imprint them on his memory. He waited anxiously for her response, always worried he would say the wrong thing and she would run away. This was the longest time they had shared together, and even with Taira's constant, angry presence, it seemed so... perfect. But it was balancing on a blade's edge, and it could so easily fall to the floor and shatter, never to be repaired...

"It's ok," Chu smiled timidly at him. For some reason, when he stared at her like that, it made her blush- though just enough so that she didn't seem so pale. He didn't really scare her so much in a way that she feared for herself, but rather she feared that she might say or do something wrong. She was used to everyone but her friends being afraid of her. To have this boy sitting before her, staring right at her face, it made her uncomfortable; as if she was no longer in control.
"I don't mind, really," she assured him, taking another swig from her goblet.

It wasn't okay, and Kuro fully intended to give Taira hell for this later. He was wary of her at the moment, the last few comments had hinted at issues he wasn't sure he wanted to know about. Now she was sat there exuding rigteous anger with a smug glint in her eyes. The glint she got when she knew something nobody else knew. The glint she always had when she knew exactly how to detonate this secret bomb. The glint that worried Kuro to extremes. However, for now she was silent enough for the fears to ease. He was free to stare.
He noted the colour tracing her skin, a tinting of pink so slight it was hardly even noticable. It would make a normal being seem pale, but the sudden hint of colour in her cheeks made Kuro return the timid smile with one of his own.
"I didn't mean to make you blush."
He murmured softly, still smiling slightly as he averted his gaze breifly. The division of his attention meant he glimpsed his sister laying down her fork.
"If you'll exuse me... I have to go. Before I do something I might regret..."
She said, smiling sweetly at the pair of them before spinning on her heel and sauntering from the kitchen. Kuro knew that the moment she was out of sight, she would shift and sprint as fast as she could.
"She really doesn't like you."
He observed, his tones almost cheerful. Not becuase his twin hated ChiChu, but because she had finally removed herself from an awkward scene.

"I figured as much," she sighed, staring down into the red liquid. His mention of her blush just made her blush that much more. "I just don't get why she doesn't lie me..."
Her eyebrows furrowed in her frustration. She couldn't deny the relief she felt at the other girls sudden absence, but the thought made her slightly uneasy.
"It's not lkeI ever did anything to her... I never even ever spoke to her! How can she loath me so much when I've barely ever said more than 3 words to her?" Chu shook her head almost in defeat, her black air rippling slightly like wind blowing a stream of pouring water. "It just doesn't make sense..."

Kuro laid his fork down silently, frowning at the now empty plate. He wasn't sure how he should tackle this problem. Taira's hatred was apparant, she wasn't working that hard to hide it. She had at first, but then she'd changed her mind. But that wasn't the problem. How could he explain that there was a reason? He couldn't tell ChiChu that Taira hated her becuase he couldn't stop thinking about her, could he? He couldn't tell the girl how he felt, which meant he couldn't tell her the truth about Tairadenai. He didn't want to lie to her though...He'd have to be careful with his words.
"It... It makes sense to Tairadenai."
He said finally, though he knew the sentence was weak, lame and not sufficent enough to provide an ample answer. So he continued.
"But, she doesn't hate you for what you are, if that helps any? You being a Vampire has nothing to do with it, she's not that hypocritical. She has her reasons, but I'm not sure I can explain them to you... I don't hate you though, you can be sure of that."
He reached out a hand towards her almost invoulantarily, and then snatched it back. He glanced at her apologetically, wondering when he would cross the line and when she would simply decide to walk away.

Chu's mouth opened, then closed. It really didn't help that it wasn't her being a vampire that made Kuros twin hate her- it felt worse that she had apparently offended the girl, though she had no clue how.
"I'm sorry if I did anything to make her despise me so much. I didn't mean to... I don't even know what I did." Her brows knitted together, her frustration increasing. She was accutly aware of his hands when he started to reach for her, but decided better of it. The small, insignifigant movement frustrated her more. If she had been human- if she hadn't been marked- nobody would probably hesitate so much to comfort her. If she weren't such a deplorable... monester, she might have lived a normal, happy life-!
The direction her thoughts had taken her made her visably grimace; she had to remind herself that she wasn't alone with her notebook.
Looking back up at Kuro, she gave the approximation of a smile.
"I'm sorry," she said again, "My presence probably isn't helping anything for anyone..." She sighed, dropping her gaze.

"No. Don't say that."
Kuro shoke his head at the last comment from ChiChu's lips, his words rushing out so quickly they were almost attached to her words. His golden eyes blazed as he stared at her face. He was itching to reach out for her, but he couldn't risk it. His hands balled into fists, and he placed them under the table, the movement's brusque but blindingly fast.
"Do you know what we are, ChiChu? Do you understand what manner of creature Taira and I are? Do you?"
His tones were softer now, more like velvet than the harsh stone of his anger. His eyes still blazed, as he questioned the dark haired girl. He needed her to understand, because he wasn't sure he could bring himself to explain it to her. If she knew, if she understood, then maybe it would be easier. It all depended on ChiChu.
He stared at her face with those blazing eyes, watching her face for the response he awaited.

"I understand more then you know," She said softly. "And I know that you aren't like anyone else. Your abilities don't just come from your mark. You are more dangerous then most... But also know that you would never really use that fact to hurt anyone. Not on purpose, anyway. And I know that you aren't alone."
She looked up at him, then, her now red eyes boring into his. She didn't feel as afraid as she usually felt around him. Something in her suddenly made her gaze strong and steady.
