Summer took the sun in her hands and flipped it over to study the incription on the back. For a moment it just looked like gibberish, but then something in her memory stirred. Then the memories flew into her mind, exploding like fireworks. She blinked, and her mind settled and she regarded the inscription in a new light. She knew those words, she knew them from her childhood. They'd been studied carefully, but never spoken. It was a silent language.
She glanced up as Tsuki spoke, and her own thoughts were echoed in the last words the other girl let fall from her lips.
"I know this language. I can read it for you."
She said in response, glancing down at the icy moon in her hands. It was cold, where she was used to warmth. However, it was not an unsettling cold. It was suprsingly comforting.

Tsuki's eyes widened. She could only stare at the other girl, for a moment, be for what she'd said hit her. She blinked and took a breath before she could speak.
"O- Ok." She nodded, an excitement growing in her at the thought of finally knowing. "Then... Then I'll read from yours."
((You're the war and I'm their past, right?))

"Ok."
Summer offered the other girl a shaky smile, and then looked down at the tiny trinket held on her palm. She knew the language, but it wasn't a language that could be spoken. It didn't have sounds, so she'd have to translate each words... She studied the inscription once more, and then hesitantly began to read.
"War shall be raged. Mortal against Marked. Neither, though shall win. Only one hope shall rise. Twins. Daughters of the sun and moon. On opposite sides, they are weak. Appart, they fail. United, nothing compares. The only hope for peace. But without control they parish. They can destroy, or they can save. Seperate, they are nothing Together, they stop can the war or destroy us all."
Once she finished, she glanced up at Tsuki with confusion in her eyes.
"What's that supposed to mean?"
She asked softly.

"War..." Tsuki repeated. "I... I think I know... I'll tell you... In a moment. I think you need to hear this, though."
She looked down at the warm pendant. The words shouldn't have been familiar, but she recognized them as if it was the only script she knew. The words, to her, were clear.
"In years to come, Twins shall be born, Identical, but opposite. One with a spirit as hot and fierce as the sun, One with a temper as cool and calm as the moon. Both powerful, but empty without the other. Halfs of a whole. One needing the solar star we orbit for her strength, The other craving the praise and glow of earth's own satellite. Neither complete without the other."
She looked up at Summer slowly, and blinked.
"I think it's talking about... us." She said and bit her lip.

Something stirred in the back of Summer's mind, like something trying to claw it's way out of a thick fog. She knew there was something out there, but she couldn't see it. Couldn't identify it.
"I think... I think..."
She took a deep breath and she staggered over her words.
"You're right."
She managed to whisper, and then light blinded her. Her mind was suddenly bursting with strange blurry memories, flashing before her eyes. Her skin prickled, and the sun danced upon her frame. Raising her hands, Summer kneeded her forehead, oblivious of the burning sunshine sheild that encircled her. She could only think of the pain in her head, the pericing sensation of her skull.
Gasping, she fell to her knees, clutching at her head. Why did it hurt?
"My... head... is... killing... me!"
She stammered out, looking up at Tsuki through wide eyes, trying to sift through the storm of memories in her mind. There was something urgent in there, something she needed to know! What was it?

No sooner had Summer agreed than Luna's head started swimming, as well. She saw the flash of light from the other girl, then was doubled over, as well.
"AH!" She cried, clutching at her skull as the world became all too bright, unfamiliar thoughts bombarding her. It was overloading her. As many thoughts as there were in her head, she found it impossible to have any of her own.
"I- Can't- THINK!" Her voice was more of a screech then anything. She was aware of the icy tears running down her cheeks at the pain, but even more-so at the fact that they evaporated immediately. It didn't make sense; it felt below freezing. The should freeze before the disappear.
There was no doubt, to her. She was afraid.

Summer could feel the heat building. It was burning and growing and expanding. It was wrapped around her frame, but now it was creeping out across the grass. It was reaching out towards Tsuki, seeking to burn her. Summer was suddenly aware of the fact she was loosing control. Not good, not good! She took a deep breath, and tried to see past the barrage of images. Her gaze focused a little, and she fought for that control. She couldn't risk not having it. It was harder than it should be, the force was much stronger than usual. However Summer fought back with everything she had, and eventually she won. She clawed the burning sun-sheild backwards, wrapping it around her body once more. It clung to her skin, making the blonde glow with blinding, unearthly light.
"Oh my God."
She gasped, finding it hard to breathe. She could feel tears in her eyes, and as they fell they were frozen on her cheeks before they melted and evaporated. It happened in seconds, and was an odd sensation. Summer was fairly sure that she was going to die. Or at least pass out. She was so scared, so scared. She'd never been this scared. Never. Panic was threatening to rise again, but she forced it back. Pushed against the swell of fear threatening to engulf her. Finally, after what seemed like years the images faded away. Well, they didn't as much fade as weave themselves into her mental timeline. It was strange, how easily these new memories fitted after cuasing so much pain...
Gasping for air, Summer fell to the ground. She rolled onto her back, staring up at the sky. With a tremendous effort, she reclaimed the burning sunshine into her body, taking away the danger from Tsuki. She couldn't stand to have the other girl hurt, not now she knew...
"Tsuki?"
She called out for the other girl, in a shaky whisper, fear in her tones. Could it be true?

Tsuki wasn't really aware of anything but the ice running through her and that surrounded her. It was all wrong; the world needed a chill, now and then, but not this. It was too much, as if it could freeze time in its place, starting with Luna, writhing in her agony. The memories were too strong, too persistant, too clear. She was vaguely aware that she'd cried out in responce to the onslaught. With every wave of memories the temperature seemed to plung even further below zero.
Tsuki knew she should be worried about something- someone -but she couldn't focus enough to remember! If only the sun weren't so-
The sun! Summer! She wasn't made for such an extreme cold. She'd freeze! Luna had to save her!
With effort, she pushed the attacking memories away, as if they were playing cards being shyffled in with her own memories. It was garder then she'd have thought, but soon enough, she knew she was the only thing left freezing.
She was suddenly aware that she'd curled up into the fetal position, her arms holding ger head as if protecting herself. Slowly, she opened her eyes, hearing her name called in a shaken whisper.
She searched the oddly lit courtyard, finally finding the other girl. Tsuki grunted, attempting- and failing -to get her stiff joints to respond. The ice that ran through her made it fairly impossible to move. Her own fear had basically left her, a strange wariness taking its place.
"S- Summer..." she mummbled, her voice weak with exhaustion. "I can't- I can't... move."

Tsuki heard the words, and groaned softly. It wasn't in annoyance, it was more from weariness. Her strength felt so drained, yet so overhwelmed. Control was teetering on a blade's edge, and she was afraid she'd slip and people would get hurt. However, Tsuki needed her help and she knew she had to help. She crawled towards the frozen girl, the short distance seemingly like miles. Finally she reached her side, and took a deep breath.
"Just... Don't panic, yeah?"
She murmured, and then found the sunshine. She formed an orb in her hand, warm and glowing. Her eyes closed as she reduced the heat to a safer level. Another deep breath and she expanded the orb, stretching and shaping it with her will so it would cover Tsuki's form perfeclty. She checked the heat, and the light a second time, eradicting the risk of burning the girl. Carefully, she sent the sun-shape towards Tsuki's form, wrapping it around her like a blanket.
"That should thaw you. It will take a couple of minutes though, I'm playing safe with the heat..."
Summer said softly, reaching out and touching Tsuki's shoulder gently before withdrawing her hand. It was all so... strange. She didn't know what to do. How to act...

As soon as the warmth started to take it's effect, Luna shuddered. It shouldn't have hurt. It shouldn't have made her blood into ice. But it had, and Luna didn't like it. She'd never felt so much power, and never been so afraid. The heat made her skin pinker- closer to a normal person's skin color than her own pale glow. The heat helped, and her own shivering- which she had no experiences with because the cold had never effected her like this -eventually did their work.
She tried opening her eyes, again, and lowered her arms as soon as she was able to move. She still felt stiff, but at least it wasn't so bad. Her eyes quickly found Summer, again, and she sighed in relief. She'd truly never been so glad to see another living soul. Usually, this kind of gratitude was saved for when she greeted the moon.
"Thank you..." She said, her voice still weak. Her shivering had turned into trembling, tears ran freely down her face, no longer evaporating upon contact with the air. She reached her hand out for her new-found sister, needing to be sure that she was really real; really there.

The moment it became apparant Tsuki could move her limbs, Summer recalled the sun blanket. After that giant collapse of power, she was not taking any chances. She could bear to lose Tsuki again. She couldn't beleive it, but neither did she believe the memories lied. They answered all the questions, and she had to beleive it. She had a sister... A twin!
"It's okay...."
She said softly, taking the outstrecthed hand. Then she lifted her gaze and noted the tears rolling freely down the trembling girls cheeks.
"Hey, hey... Come here."
Without thinking, she pulled Tsuki into a hug. She froze for a moment, remembering what had happened last time. Then she exhaled softly. This time there was no explosion of light, heat or ice. It was nothing more than a hug.
"Don't cry..."
She murmured, as she wrapped the trembling girl into a warm embrace, pulling her close and holding her firmly.

Luna's reaction felt natural; she wrapped her arms around the other girl, the tight embrace helping to calm her trembling body. She was, for once, grateful for the warmth. It felt right, and she, at least now, knew why. She worked to calm her breathing- the task was harder then she thought it would be -and was soon fairly still.
After a while, she pulled away, sniffed once, and wiped some tears away with the heal of her hand. She laughed one, shaky laugh before looking up again at Summer.
"I'm sorry, I just..." She shook her head, trying to rearrange her jumbled thoughts. "I guess I just can't believe it. All my life I just wanted to know who my family was and now... I have a sister. I just... Can't believe it."

Tsuki was very cold, colder than she should be it seemed. However, as Summer's warmth spread and vanquished that dangerous icy touch to her skin, the coolness was oddly refreshing. Like ice on a hot day. Summer just held Tsuki tightly, as if a hug could keep everything bad away. Like her arms could sheild Tsuki from the pain...
"I know..."
She agreed with a soft laugh. It was one of those laugh or cry moments, and Summer didn't want to cry.
"I can't believe they never told me... They must have known! Why couldn't they tell us?"
She thought Tsuki's appearance and the knowledge of who she was would have answered all her questions, but now it seemed more were rising. Her thoughts went back to the words on the necklaces, and she was suddenly aware she was still holding Tsuki's pendant.
"Oh. Here..."
She said, holding the necklace back out to its rightful owner.

"Oh, thanks," The moon-girl said, taking back her necklace. "And here's yours." She said, handing back the sun. There was an odd relief in having her own moon pendant back. She quickly unclasp and re-clasped it around her neck, then looked up at Summer with a smile.
"So... Do you know our parents? Are they alive?" She couldn't help asking; the question had torn her from the inside out for years, unyielding and unanswered. Her eyes searched her twin's face- so alike and so different at the same time -the curiosity and need were brimming over, smothering. She needed this.

Summer eagerly fixed the necklace back around her neck, the weight of the chain and the pendant reassuring. Her throat had felt empty without the solid warmth of the pendant. She paused with her hand over the trinket, as the full weight of Tsuki's question hit her.
"I-I don't know..."
She said weakly. She realised this was what Tsuki was searching for all this time. Their parents.
"I wasn't told much about them. My Uncle - our uncle- didn't say a lot. He just said, that they couldn't handle it. Having a Marked child.... That's why he adopted me. Said he didn't want to talk about his sister much, so we didn't mention it much. He never told me about you... He must have known though..."
She trailed off and then looked up at Tsuki.
"Sorry..."

Tsuki listened, her heart dropping with every of her twin's words. She closed her eyes at one point, fighting the disappointed tears. She'd been searching for years, and now she'd finally found something that could unlock all the mysteries of her past- And she'd hit another wall. It took her a few moment's after Summer's voice trailed off to regain composure, fighting the tears back to the coldest chamber of her heart where they froze, waiting to come back at a later date.
"It's ok." She finally said, opening her icy green eyes to reassure her sister. "I should know not to get my hopes up..."
She took a deep breath of the cool night then let it back out, the air cooler the second time it passed her lips. She managed to smile at Summer.
"At least I know you, now. That's a big improvement." She said, looking on the bright side. "So, an uncle, you say?"

"Yeah, we got eachother now."
Summer agreed with a smile, hers a lot stronger than Tsuki's. Summer knew of her parents to some respect, and she'd never gotten her hopes built on the idea of finding them and being welcomed with open arms. Besides, she had open arms of her family. Her Uncle and Aunt, and her cousins. They were all the family she'd needed, and now she had Tsuki. She'd never been looking for her family, just answers.
"Yeah, an Uncle. He's more like a father to me. He's called Luke and he's just...great. His wife's name Miranda, and she's a wonderful mother. She's really gentle, but firm. She'd fight to the death for her children, and me. You too if she knew you. You'd love her. And Greg and Tina. They're the kids. Nine and five, and very cute..."
Summer settled cross-legged on the ground, and looked over at Tsuki.
"What about you? Who looked after you?"

Tsuki listened intently, committing the girl's words to memory. When Summer settled down to the ground, Tsuki followed suit, sitting in a casual form of kneeling, her legs folded under her tightly.
"A lot of people," She replied softly, not sure what Summer was expecting. Did she assume Luna was taken care of by some relative that she knew nothing about, like it was the other way around? There was only one way to find out. As Luna gently said the words, her eyes never left Summer's face as she tried to decipher any and all reaction she received. "I've been adopted... a few times. I got into the system when I was a baby; closed adoption. I wasn't told anything about my family. I mostly stayed in group-foster homes, but there've been a few people, when I was younger, that thought they could... change me. I'd usually hide the fact that I was marked for a while, until I thought they wouldn't care- But no one wants to keep some freaky depressed girl who worships the moon and has an insignia. Eventually, I got so old that no one wanted me, either way. That happens. I've seen it a lot; everyone wants a little kid or baby. Someone they can mold to their own ideals. Once I got here, to Athena Academy, I was allowed to stay here as my home instead of going back into the system."
She shrugged her slight shoulders, trying to make the explanation of her past seem like less of a deal then it might appear to be, or was- just in case.
"It happens." She stated, again, trying to keep the usual mixture of pain and confusion off her face that usually appeared when she talked of her past. She was almost successful- Almost. He, she was Tsuki. Not the best person at lying in the world.

Summer felt an irrational surge of guilt pass through her frame as Tsuki spoke. It was irrational, it wasn't Summer's fault. Even though a part of her accepted that logic, she still felt that horrible creeing emotion. Was it fair that she had been raised in a safe, happy home, with her actual family (or at least some of it) while Tsuki had been passed from person to person. Where was the balance? Why had that happened? Why the sudden tilt in equality? Summer had to silently question why the odds had all been seemingly stacked in her favour; when did she get lucky? She said none of this though, just reached across and placed a warm hand on Tsuki's knee ina guesture of comfort. Sh'ed seen right through the act of nochalance Tsuki had thrown at her.
"Do you like it at Athena? I mean, as a home not a school?"
She asked softly, withdrawing her hand again after a few moments, tilting her head slightly with the question.
"I mean, if you don't you could always come and y'know, maybe you could stay with me, I mean if you wanted to..."
She tumbled over the words and averted her gaze to the ground, not sure why she was so embarresed. It was most likely that the previous thoughts about the difference in situations circling in her head carried the blame though.

Tsuki sucked in a breath of air at the girl's words. She let it out in a low hiss that meant no haustility, just for her to get her barings. The idea was dizzying, to her. She wanted to scream, Yes! Of course! Are you so insane that you have to ask?! Did you hit your head or something in those explossions?" But she didn't. Restraint, she'd learned long ago, was key. Always. She took a silent moment to control her now-racing heart, and thought it over. There was probably some reason the two had been seperated. Some reason Summer had been allowed to know any part of their family while Luna was given away. Abandoned. Surely there was a reason they didn't want her. Surely they wouldn't just take one and leave the other for no reason.
"If it's ok with you- I mean our -Uncle." She said, her voice slightly shaky. Obviously she wasn't quite calm. "They might not want me... I mean, alot of people have problems with marked's- I've seen it countless times. They're used to you... but they might not be ok with me. I was always sent back when my foster's find out about my mark..."
