"Kinan Kobo! You have exactly five seconds to return to your seat."
The curt words were hurled across the classroom and Jinx froze, eyes narrowed slightly as she considered her options. The class took a collective breath, waiting to see the response. Jinx cast a quick look over her shoulder. The teacher was stalking across the room, obstructed by the students who had turned to watch. That was buying her those valid five seconds. Her class-mates faces were all watching her expectantly. Jinx didn't like to dissapoint.
She cranked open the window, feeling the rush of chilled air. It was refreshing. She placed her palms on the wooden ledge, and then swung herself out of the room. She landed on the grass with a laugh, to a smattering of appluase and the sound of scraping chairs. Soon her class-mates faces were at the window, several crinkling up their noses as the rain hit them. Jinx flashed a wink, and then she took off across the lawns.
The sky was smudged with heavy grey clouds, and the rain was falling heavily. Jinx had watched it begin to patter against the window frames. and found her attention darting from the history lesson to the wet world outside. It hadn't taken long for her to push back her chair and head towards the window. That's when the teacher got involved. She'd get a lecture for it later, but that was later and she wasn't bothered about later.
She laughed as she sprinted across the lawns, the rain cold against her skin. She didn't stop running untill she reached the courtyard; one of her favourite places to dance. Mostly becuase the teachers couldn't see her and it took them longer to find her.
She leapt lightly onto a stone bench, adjusting automatically to the slippery surface. Her mind spun a web of numbers to serve as a safety blanket, keeping her from falling. Jinx hardly spared a thought to her safety though. Her arms outstrecthed, she turned her face to the sky letting the rain kiss her face as she spun in a circle, laughing like crazy.
Sometimes her sanity really did have to be questioned...

Ken struck a match, and lit his cigarette. He took in a long drag, and continued walking around the lake, hands in his pockets. When he took a second round of skipping class (nothing new) he saw a laughing girl.
"Boy howdy....You havin' some fun there girly?!"
He chuckled once, and flicked his smoke to the ground, stepping it out. He ran his fingers through his wet hair, and shook it around, getting the water droplets out of place.

As the accented words sung out into the air, Jinx turned to face the new comer. Her laughter stopped, and she tilted her head to one side to look at this boy. He looked vaugley familair, but she couldn't place him.
"Didn't anybody tell you not to skip classes?"
She asked cheerily, skipping down from the bench. She danced across the concrete towards the male, nimble feet carrying her gracefully.
"Especially in the rain, you'll get ill. Poor baby."
She laughed, her words rushed and tumbling over eachother. Her blonde hair was darkened by the rain and hungly limply over her shoulders, but her eyes sparkled and her smile was wide. The rain always made her happy.

"'Poor baby' my ass girly."
He growled, and struck a match once more. He pulled a cigarette out of his pocket, and popped it in his mouth.
"You're skipping may I add."
His husky voice seemed to make the atmosphere darker than the rain made it, and he blew a smoke ring in Jinx's face.

"Oooh. Tetchy much? Why is everyone in the school so tetchy? It gets old. Blah blah grumpy blah. Lighten up, okay?"
Jinx laughed, not bothered in the slightest by the words. He could ahve called her every name under the sun and she would have kept smiling. She was happy. Cranky people couldn't change that easily. The rain was cold against her skin, and she was grateful she hadn't worn white today. Even so, her clothes were sticking to her skin, plastered to her slim figure.
"I'm not skipping, I'm spinning."
She said cheerily, twirling on the spot once more to get her point across.

"Shush it!"
He bit down on his 'rat, so that it didn't fall out of his mouth when he growled the words. He couldn't stand these people. Let alone, the cheery, happy preppy ones. Although she was...pretty, she was annoying like the rest.
"Spinnin' like a spinnin' top doll...Spinnin' like a top'."
He whispered, flinging his cigarette to the wet ground; stepping it into the ground once more. He ran his fingers through his black sleek hair again, and tussled it around; getting the old droplets of water out, and letting the new ones drip on his head. When the rain picked up, it stung his skin. When he looked up, his eyes slightly open, he realized from the feeling that the soft water drops, had turned into hard, sharp sleet. It truly was[/b] becoming winter around here. Ken popped his collar up, so that it covered his ears and he grumbled something under his breath.
"Come on!"
He snatched Jinx's wrist, and yanked her towards a thick weeping willow. He sat down, because that was the only dry spot... probably in this whole outside school part; and tussled his hair again.
"Any more time out there, and we'd be bleeding a bit."
He said, rubbing his neck, where it had already had been slit by the tiny needle-like drops of sleet.

Jinx had contiuned to twirl on the spot like a sugar-high ballerina, and had taken little notice of much else. That was untill a hand suddenly tightened around her wrist and she was moving at somebody else whim.
"Oh."
Was all she said in response as she allowed herself to be towed into the shetler provided by the thick willow. She fornwed slightly at his comment and then glanced back at the sleet. Her gaze dropped to her hand, checking for traces of blood but she found none.
Shrugging her shoulders, she dropped down to the ground and sat next to the boy, leaning back against the tree trunk.
"You never told me your name, grumpy."

"Look girly,"
Ken pointed a finger towards the girl, and looked at her right after.
"Call me grumpy one more time. So help me, they'll call the fuzz for murder!"
He growled under his teeth, and looked up at the willow, as a small drop of water hit his forehead. It swam don his face and he licked it once it drooped over his top lip.
"It's Ken...Ken Sumo-ka. What's you're name girly?"

"If you keep calling me girly, I'll keep calling you grumpy."
Jinx observed good naturedly, shrugging her shoulders gently. Fair was fair afterall, she wasn't going to be banned from using her little name if he was going to keep using his chosen title. She reached out and pushed his hand down, so he was no longer pointing at her.
"So if you don't like grumpy, you can call me Jinx."
She said, and then withdrew her hand back from his and ran it through her hair.
"Besides, you don't want to murder me. I'm an Athena Academy treasure, and people get cranky if I die. Though you're not the first person to make that threat..."

Ken's head jerk once to the girl's comment at the end and he automatically felt terrible. Bad or not, he still felt pain others did.
"H-hey, I didn't mean it like that Jinxy-girl. I wouldn't really hurt you...Hey! I may be as mean as a bull, but I won't kill girls. Guys...guys need to watch out."
He smirked half-heartedly, and a thing of lightning struck the ground right near the tree. It shook the ground, and the thunder that followed shook the two kids.

"Don't worry about it, seriously. You wouldn't stand a chance against me anyhow."
Jinx shrugged her shoulders lightly and laughed. She hadn't taken the threat seriously at all, it had just reminded her of the time she'd been threatened by Ashi. All the reason's she'd listed then rung through her mind.
"Oh, and don't worry about the lightning. I'm on it."
She winked conspiritially and laughed again.

"right"
He said calmly, taking out another cancer stick, and lighting it up. He blew a perfect smoke ring, and moved his left hand around. The small drops that had escaped through the thick vines above, turned a dark purple as he touched them.
"heh...so helpless."
He snarled in a laughing tone at the worthless poisoned water.

If Jinx hadn't been watching the droplets, maybe the figures wouldn't have jumped into her head. If she'd glanced away at that moment, she would never have realised. As it was, she saw the water fall, and her brain told her that it would land on his hand. And that he would poison it.
Jinx watched the water turn purple with wide eyes. She stared for a moment, still and silent.
"Oh."
Was all she said for a moment, her eyes full of doubts as she looked at the boy. He was bitter and twisted, the snarling laughter told Jinx that. She shivvered slightly, though that was likely to be from the icy rain.
"Maybe... Maybe I should go?"
She said in quiet tones, not meeting Ken's eyes.

"That's up to you...not me."
He said quietly, letting the drop of ink-poisoned water. Scaring her wasn't the best thing to do, he'd have to learn to get along with people, if he was going to destroy them...right?! Sighing, he shifted to a different position. His golden eyes locked on Jinx's and he flicked a clean droplet of water on her face.
"Calm down...I ain't gonna kill you or nothin'. It's just the way I am. I don't mean to hurt people you know. Ever since my little sister got murdered by someone with an insignia, I've..."
He broke off with another deep sigh, and he wiped his forehead. The memory of his younger sister getting killed in front of his own eyes, was just too much to bare.
"Heh, just forget it. It's none of your business."
He snarled, and leaned back on the tree trunk.

Jinx raised a hand and wiped away the water droplet that had landed on her face in one brisk movement. Then she turned back to Ken.
"My problem isn't with your abilites. Trust me, I've dealt with worse. What upsets me is... I saw the look on your face when you posioned that water. What you said... The way you said it. That's what worries me. Becuase I don't know what kind of person can glean such pleasure from something like that. It's just nasty."
She said quietly, her blue gaze not wavering as she met his golden gaze. She watched him, and flicnhed slightly as he snarled again. She wasn't scared of him, she was scared for him. The sort of attitude he held, was the sort of attitude that got people killed, or at least killed off their hopes and dreams in life. Or that was how she saw it.
ooc: lame post, sorry.

"I don't need your sympathy. I'm a naturally evil person!"
He snarled and turned back to looking out at the rain. Something in thefar distance glistened, but he ignored it and turned his head back to Jinx.
"No one's ever made me happy after my sister."

His first snarled statement made Jinx's eyes grow cold. They changed from a warm summer ocean, to chips of ice the moment the words departed his lips.
"I wasn't giving you sympathy. You don't deserve it."
She said slowly, her words crisp and cold. She looked at him for a moment, and then she turned away climbing to her feet. Brushing the dirt from her jeans, she allowed herself to shoot one more glare at the male.
"Get over it. Life's shit, bad things happen... Suck it up. Move on and stop wallowing in yourself pity. It's pathetic!"
She snapped coldly, and then walked back out into the rain, not sure where she was going but heading in the direction her brain told her was 'away'.

"She dies first." He snapped quietly to himself as he lit another cigarette, and looked towards the lake, hoping that the sleet would pain the girl. Maybe even make her bleed to death after a while. Even better, make her come running back to the tree, so that he could be the one to kill her himself. Either way was better than her just walking away from the conversation.
"Little bit--" He turned his head as the gleaming light of silver flashed again, out near where the girl was trying to get 'away'.
