Jinx loved maths class.
She was probably one of few, if not the only student who would feel that way. Most struggled their way through the lesson, and even those that were good with numbers found it a chore. Not Jinx. The numbers fitted into her head, as familiar to her as her own skin. They arranged themselves into her head, almost solving themselves. Numbers was what she did. Everything, essesntially broke down into nnumbers for the girl. Every action, every movement each person made was a number. The choices they made... All of it numbers. It was almost as if the figures flashed across her eyes.
The blonde had settled herself at the back of the class, ignoring the teachers words. She tipped her chair back a little precariously, but she could stop herself falling. Bad luck wasn't something that affected her unless she wasn't paying attention. Even if she was distracted, her body reacted quickly to such changes. It was like a sheild surrounding her, forcing away misfortune and pushing it onto other people. For instance, if the boy across the aisle slammed down his book in frustration, and the suprise made Jinx fall backwards... She wouldn't. Well, she might. There was always the possibility that she would. However 9 times out of 10 (actually the figures were much more specific than that) that she would tip forwards, and land safely.
She was just infront of the windows, and afternoon sunlight streamed in, warming her skin and face. Blue eyes were closed, images flickering across her mind easily. Pointless memories, daydreams and idle thoughts. Places she'd been, she wanted to go to... All manner of trivial things that were so soothing. Not to mention the blissful sunshine and the familair hum of numbers and problems just begining to start up.
Oh yes, Jinx loved maths.
Something flicked at the edge of her mind. Somebody was late. They were running. Her eyes scanned the room breifly, trying to pinpoint the face. It was hard when all you saw was the back of people's heads. Hmm. Nearly all the seats were filled. There was a spare one next to her, and one directly infront but she couldn't decided who was out of place. She'd soon find out enough...
Her blue eyes opened suddenly, and her chair hit the floor as she leaned forward. Her gaze fixed on the door, as she waited for the figure to emerge.
Whoever it was... They were almost definatley going to trip up.

Ashi tiredly walked into the math class. Late, for sure. He ignored the giggles he'd gotten by most girls, and the teacher's glare. He stalked up the slopped isle, and slunched into an empty seat.
"Hi Jinxy."
Was all he said, with a muffled laugh. He took out his book, and a piece of paper, then began doodling the small, detailed face that he saw from his peripheral vision.

Jinx leaned forward in her seat, debating whether or not she should switch some figures. A tiny frown creased her brow as she thought, and then she made her choice as the door-handle turned. Numbers flew in her mind, and the following sequences changed subtly. Nobody would fall. Ashi stepped lithely through the door, moving easily through the classroom. Her expression smoothed out into a smile as she was greeted by the boy. That was a good sign, it meant he wasn't holding grduges against her.
She watched him doodle for a moment, trying to decide if she should leave him alone of not. Then, she leant forward across her desk, strecthing out to tap the boy very gently on the shoulder.
"What'cha doin'?"
She whispered, flashing a grin.

He felt her lean closer, and held back a small growl.
"You moved...."
Was all he said when he looked up at her, there was a half draw, perfectly matching the distinct figure, of Jinx on his paper. Since he was a speed drawer, as he was reader, he'd only gotten half her face done.
He took his hand, and grabber her chin, then looked back at his paper, using his peripheral vision to rearrange the girl back top her original stance. He moved her head until it was perfectly in place again, and began to draw where he'd left off.
About five minutes passed, and he was drawing Jinx's sitting body on a separate sheet of paper. When he connected the two, it was a full body drawing of the slim, tricky girl.
"There... Happy?!"
He asked quietly as the teacher talked on and on again. He was bound to get in trouble for harassing the teacher, and for coming in late; but that was hours away.

Jinx froze as he grabbed her chin, fists clenching slightly underneath the table. Did the boy never learn? Hostile actions normally meant things broke. She took a deep breath and calmed herself just in time to stop the blackboard breaking in half. That wouldn't have gone well. She focused her attention on not breaking things, and swearing mentally at Ashi in all the languages she knew, and then she invented a few terms. For about five minutes she kept that up, and then she was shown the drawing and took this as permission to move. A grin spread across her face as she studied the sketh.
"Awesome."
She declared, and then her name was called and her head turned reflexivley towards the sound - the teacher.
"The answer to this problem please? You would know if you were paying attention to the lesson..."
The teacher was trying to catch the teenager off gaurd, what a foolish power game to try and play. Jinx would always win. She studied the blackboard for a heartbeat.
"Nine thousand to the negative power of twelve over the square root of 15.6 cubed."
She answered with confidence and then smiled graciously at the begruding praise she was offered from the man. She waited untill he turned his attention elsewhere, before she twisted in her chair to see Ashi again.
"So, why were you drawing me? Is it because I'm gorgeous?"
She tipped the male a wink and giggled softly.

"impressive"
He said softly, and scratched lines in the wooden desk.
"Yes, you are the most gorgeous thing I've seen...."
He said in a sarcastic voice. Actually, he was pretty, but he'd already had his eye on someone, and not even Jinx could change his mind on that.

"Not really. Second nature. Or maybe third. Or is it fourth... Well whatever, it's a nature. Which pisses off the maths teachers, because they can't teach me and they know it but they have to try and establish some authority.Even if they can't. Awesome, right?"
She shrugged her shoulders, still looking at her picture. As he spoke next, she laughed softly and then reached out and thumped him lightly on the shoulder.
"Oi! I am so the most gorgeous thing you ever seen! Look at me; I'm sensational!"
She struck a pose on the last word and held if for a few seconds before giggling again.
"You know I'm right..."

"It's my third nature Jinxy...."
He muttered under his breathe.
"Riight, i know you're right!"
He chuckled once. And made a camera figure with his fingers.

"Lucky you. I can just do the numbers, but I'm not too bothered about the other subjects. Could be the reason my mum's been on the phone with the head for most of the day."
She giggled slightly and shrugged her shoulders. Her mother was suprsingly un-concerned with the academic side of life and as long as she thought Jinx was happy, wouldn't question it. Infact, she'd proabbly turn the tables round and start lecturing the teacher on the adequete behaviour and care for her daughter. It was all good.
"Much as I hate to say it... Enough about me, more about you! What's this I've been hearing from freshman about you and a certain other in a corridor? Hmm?"
She laughed and waggled her eyebrows suggestivley.

Ashi groaned. How many people knew about this....How did they...
"THOSE DAMN LITTLE FRESHMAN!!!" Ashi yowled out, in the middle of the class, everyone turning to look at him.
"WHAT'RE YOU GUYS LOOKIN' AT?!"
He yelled at them, and the teacher continued the lesson. He looked as scared as the class did when he yelled.
"Oh, I warned her they would tell someone!" He whispered under his breath, and slapped his forehead.
"Yeah...I have someone."
He told Jinx quietly. Hoping it wouldn't ruin anything in the relationship he finally had now.

Jinx couldn't help but flinch and recoil back from the sudden explosion of anger. Her eyes widened and her brain automatically plotted various escape routes, and they ranked in order of sucess in her brain. She ignored them though. She nodded her head slowly, and then slid off her seat to the floor. She cralwed under the table and resurfaced next to Ashi. Much to the alarm of the person sat nearest to him.
Jinx shrugged her shoulder's by ways of apology to the startled teen and then settled herself down next to Ashi. She was careful to keep some distance though, remembering how he ultimatley craved her blood.
"Hey, no need to shout. It's just gossip. Everybody loves a gossip in this school, it's what keeps us entertained when I'm having a day off and nobody's fighting. So either calm down, or climb out the window and go shout and trees. Just, no yelling."
She told him firmly.

"Ah....I know..."
He put a hand over his left eyes, leaving a space between two fingers. His eye moved to look at the girl sitting on the floor next to him, and he closed the gap.
"But those damn freshman are going to get it when I see them."
He threatened under clenched teeth, grinding the fangs together.

Jinx had a well developed habit of ignoring her own better instincts and doing reckless and thoughtless things. Many of these things had landed her in A&E, but she’d been visited by her friends and was quite a fan of grapes. As Ashi muttered his threat towards the freshman, Jinx did what she would do if anybody else had made stupid threats like that when she had told them not to. She lifted her hand and smacked him sharply around the back of the head.
“Enough.”
She said firmly, a hint of steel to her tones.
“You are being pathetic. So it’s a few rumours, live ‘em, love ‘em spread ‘em, that’s my motto. It’s not a big deal. So you made out with a girl, the world is not going to end because people found out, is it?”
She said, folding her arms across her chest and tilting a questing eyebrow in the demon’s direction. Then she paused shrugged her shoulders gently.
“Unless you’re ashamed of it I guess…”

"That was weak."
He chuckled under his breath at the attempt to hurt him. His mood changed, eyes flashed and a snarl ripped up his chest.
"Outside...NOW!"
He growled, yanking the girl up by her collar, and dragged her out into the hall.
"Listen you! I'd never regret that even if it saved my life. You got that! Nothing was bad about it, and if people think it wasn't meant to be, then screw them to Hell."
He snarled loudly, slammed a fist on the classroom door -the hole class stopped to listen, but continued to the loud noise from his anger- and huffed a low sigh.
"You should meet somebody that I've heard of...or at the least talk to him. He's like you in a sense. Name's Akkei, he's a trickster, well...he reminds me of you. talk to him...leave me alone for a bit or something. Not completely, you know I like you as a...friend...but you're clingy...AND LIKE GOSSIP OR RUMORS YOUR DAINTY HANDS CAN GET ON."
He sighed again.

Jinx gave a muffled yelp as she was suddenly dragged up by her top. The te-shirt rode up over her stomach as Ashi bunched the material in his fist, and for a moment or two the blonde consdiered wriggling completley free of the garmet to escape. Then again, the boy in the front row would have a heart attack or something of that ilk if she suddenly stodd before them all in nothing but jeans and a bra. Also, she had the feeling that her loosing clothing wouldn't stop angry Ashi and she didn't like being yelled at semi-clothed. It made things awkward. By this point she'd been tossed outside and was relieved enough to have her feet back on the ground. She tugged her top down back into to place, and then faced Ashi's temper.
"OI! I never said that you did! I was just wondering why you were reacting so badly to people knowing! You just ranted on about how much you don't regret it, and then you're threatening to like, EAT frehsman over people knowing! It doesn't make sense! Seriously!"
She tried to keep the volume of her words down, aware of the many people listening to her through the door. She made sure they heard enough to realise that Ashi hadn't actually killed or something though. It wasn't the males best plan, drag a girl outside, start snarling and then punch something. She shifted her weight slightly and arched an eyebrow at the males words.
"Whatever Ashi. I'll meet your little friend if it makes you happy, but I don't hang around you becuase I've got nobody else to kick with. I was just trying to show you that you don't have to be all dark, emo and angsty all the time! But everytime I try, you turn around and bite my head off! So you can go right on sulking, and snarling about 'how unfair my life is' and mutter about killing freshman all you want, it don't change the truth. You don't want to be happy!"
She left a moment of silence to make sure her words had sunk in, and then lunged forward, wrapping her arms around him for a second before she stepped out of range again.
"But, I'm not giving up on you yet. So let me know when you've stopped being such a jackass, okay?"
She winked at him and then danced back into the classroom, kicking the door shut behind her.

"Ooh, such a girl..."
He sighed quickly hugging her back, and in the blink of an eye he let go.
"I'll try my best."
He whispered as she slammed the door. He slid down the side of the wall, and waited for the class to skip on by.
