Fire burnt feircely, raging across the room. The heat was intense, hotter than any flames had the right to be. People were huddled in the corner, cowering and cringing from the golden blaze. Their eyes were wide with fright and panic. They knew there was no escape, they had nowhere else to run. They looked so scared, scared of the monster who'd done all of this.
She called out for them, and took a step froward, reaching out for the huddled masses to try and help them. They began to sob in terror pleading for mercy. At first she didn't understand and then the awful truth dawned on her... She was the monster.
She called out for them, and took a step froward, reaching out for the huddled masses to try and help them. They began to sob in terror pleading for mercy. At first she didn't understand and then the awful truth dawned on her... She was the monster.
Her eyes snapped open, and blinked rapidly against the darkness. Her attention was focused on deep breathes and fighting the desire to scream. She felt so scared, so empty. The clock on her bedside flashed the time and she sighed with releif. It wouldn't be long untill sunrise now. Slowly she pushed the duvet covers back and swung herself out of bed. The morning still came with a chill however, so she wrapped herself up in her dressing gown before padding out of her room. She wasn't entirely sure where would be the best place to head, but she didn't trust her dreams right now.
She created a ball on sunlight in her hands to lead her down the halls, not wanting to awake those students still slumbering. However the moment she reached the common room, she flicked on all the light switches, flooding the room with light. For a few moments everything was bright and then it suddenly dimmed. She sighed and glanced down at her hands; the stolen light danced across them. She needed to calm down. She looked around the empty room slowly, deliberating over her actions. The fire place caught her eyes, laid but not lit. She threw the ball she cradled to her chest against the kindling, the burning heat of the sun bringing flames to life. The heat would soon fill the room, compensating for the warmth her shaken emotions had stolen.
She found an east facing window and flung the curtain open, though she couldn't help but wince slightly as she saw the dark landscape. She stumbled towards the armchair facing this window and collapsed into it, curling up on the broad seat. It would be better if she could actually fele the sun's touch on her skin, but seeing it would suffice. Besides, she didn't want to be out there in the darkness while she waited. Alone. The strange tinge of emptiness shook her once more. Winter truly was on it's way.
Summer ran a hand through her hair and groaned slightly. Her fitful sleep had turned the blonde locks into a hay-stack. Not the best look in the world, it had to be said. But it wasn't as if the world was there to see her. Besides, it was five am. Everybody was allowed to look a bit of a mess at that hour. So Summer just settled back into her seat and waited for dawn to come...
